Tightly rolling clothes into compact pieces allows for much tighter packing that fits more items into the suitcase. It also cuts down on creases but makes some items into wrinkly messes.

Roll clothes and pack them first.  Pack the first outfit you'll want to wear on top.  Layer plastic dry cleaning bags between clothes.  Avoid over or under-packing.  Bring two small laundry bags.  Keep important medication in your purse.
